What a wallet does

A blockchain wallet helps users manage keys and sign messages or transactions. Assets generally remain recorded on the blockchain; the wallet controls the credentials that authorize changes.

Key concepts

  • Address: a public identifier used to receive assets or identify an account.
  • Private key: secret cryptographic material used to authorize actions.
  • Seed phrase: a recovery representation used by many wallet systems.
  • Signature: cryptographic proof that an authorized key approved a message.
Never share a private key or seed phrase. Legitimate support teams do not need them.
