# Scams and phishing

> Recognize common blockchain scams, social engineering, wallet drainers, and fraudulent offers.

## Common patterns

Scams frequently rely on urgency, authority impersonation, unrealistic returns, fake support, malicious links, fraudulent presales, or requests to connect a wallet and sign unexpected permissions.

## Warning signs

* Guaranteed returns.
* Unsolicited support messages.
* Requests for seed phrases.
* Pressure to act immediately.
* Lookalike domains.
* Unexpected token approvals.
* Claims that funds must be sent first to unlock a withdrawal.

<Tip>When something feels urgent, independently verify the project or service through a known official channel before taking any action.</Tip>
