This whitepaper examines the strategic necessity for Canada to integrate blockchain technology into its economic and governmental frameworks to maintain competitiveness in the global digital landscape. The study addresses the challenges of current technological obsolescence, arguing that blockchain is not merely an incremental improvement but a foundational shift in how value and data are managed. It identifies key sectors—such as banking, supply chain, and public administration—where DLT implementations could significantly reduce operational friction and administrative costs. The paper explores the geopolitical and regulatory implications of a national digital strategy, highlighting the urgency of fostering a robust domestic innovation ecosystem.
