This research provides a comparative analysis of public (permissionless) and private (permissioned) blockchain architectures, guiding decision-makers toward the appropriate deployment model for their specific business goals. It decomposes the two models based on key criteria: throughput (scalability), decentralization, security, data privacy, and governance complexity. The paper clarifies that the choice between a public and private network is not merely technical but determined by the entity’s regulatory environment, trust requirements, and intended user base. It highlights that while public blockchains offer maximum censorship resistance and universal participation, private blockchains offer the high transaction speeds, privacy, and regulatory controls required by modern corporate entities. The report includes a decision-making framework for architects evaluating which model—or hybrid combination—best supports their use case.
