Abstract

The Polygon (formerly Matic Network) whitepaper proposes a framework for building and connecting Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks. The architecture leverages a modified version of the Plasma framework and a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism to provide scalable and near-instant transaction finality. The paper discusses the architecture of the ‘Matic Sidechain,’ which acts as a bridge for ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens, offering reduced fees and higher transaction speeds compared to the Ethereum mainnet.
