## Abstract

This paper explores a specific pilot project conducted with the University Health Network (UHN) regarding the management of patient health records using blockchain. It highlights the problem of data silos in the healthcare system, where patient records are fragmented across multiple institutions and inaccessible to the patients themselves. The authors describe how a blockchain-based platform can empower patients with ownership of their personal health data, allowing them to provide granular, temporary access to healthcare providers.
