Abstract

IoT-GChain presents a specialized application of blockchain technology to address transparency and traceability challenges within the grain supply chain. By integrating IoT sensors with an immutable blockchain ledger, the system captures real-time data regarding the conditions and location of grain during storage and transport. The paper highlights the methodology for ensuring data integrity from the sensor to the ledger, mitigating the risk of tampering or falsified information. This application-focused research demonstrates how blockchain acts as a trust-enabling layer in industrial logistics. The significance of this work lies in its practical architecture for supply chain management, offering a blueprint for enhancing product quality monitoring and supply chain auditability through decentralized technology. Key findings

  • IoT sensor integration provides a real-time, tamper-proof record of grain environmental conditions.
  • Blockchain creates a verifiable audit trail that significantly reduces fraud within the supply chain.
  • Standardizing sensor-to-ledger communication is essential for the reliability of the system.
  • Traceability is improved, allowing stakeholders to identify points of quality degradation faster.
