Abstract

This research paper explores the transformation of global financial markets driven by the emergence of digital asset exchanges (DAEs). Moving beyond the role of simple retail trading venues, these exchanges are increasingly functioning as complex financial hubs that offer integrated services such as lending, borrowing, and synthetic asset creation. The whitepaper analyzes the shift from traditional, legacy-based financial architectures to 24/7, high-frequency, programmable exchange environments. It discusses the benefits of reduced settlement times, increased transparency via public ledgers, and global accessibility, while acknowledging the significant technical and regulatory challenges, including market manipulation, high volatility, and cybersecurity risks. Through a detailed analysis of market microstructure, the study demonstrates how DAEs are forcing traditional banking and securities firms to modernize their own back-office processes.
