Abstract

ERC-7683 provides a unified framework for cross-chain intent-based systems, aiming to standardize how users express desires for cross-chain interactions and how relayers or fillers fulfill those desires. As the multichain landscape grows, fragmentation of liquidity and complexity of cross-chain bridges have become significant hurdles. ERC-7683 introduces a standardized ‘CrossChainOrder’ structure that defines the source chain, destination chain, assets, and reward mechanisms. By standardizing this interface, the proposal enables a permissionless and competitive market of fillers who can execute these intents, promoting better pricing and faster fulfillment for end-users. The standard is designed to be chain-agnostic, allowing protocols to focus on their specific filling strategies while ensuring that the order structure remains interoperable across various bridge and intent-based architectures. This development is pivotal for abstracting away the complexities of cross-chain execution, allowing developers to build user-centric applications that treat cross-chain operations as simple, uniform transactions rather than distinct, platform-specific integrations.
